Nejang - Tibetan Self-Heaing Yoga

Friday, June 12, 2026
4–5 pm

Stevenson Athletic Center, Classroom 1
NEJANG -TIBETAN SELF-HEALING YOGA
Also known as Tibetan Rejuvenation Yoga or Tibetan Longevity Yoga, Nejang (which translates as “cleaning the energy sites in the body”) is a Tibetan self-healing practice which combines pranayama (breathwork), gentle movement, and self-massageto remove blockages at the level of the subtle body (the energy body) . Traditional nejang--with roots in both Tibetan medicine and Kalachakra tantra--consists of twenty-four gentle movements: a series which balances the body’s internal energies, calms the nervous system, and relaxes the mind. For centuries, this system has been used by Tibetan physicians as “prescriptions” for their patients.  It is used to both pacify existing medical imbalances and prevent future imbalances and disease.

In these stressful modern times, Nejang serves as an effective antidote for internal imbalances such as anxietry, depression, PTSD, panic, nightmares, addictive patterns, dissociation, etc.  Nejang also helps to re-affirm a good working relationship between our own minds, bodies, and energy systems. In Tibetan medicine, we feel we can use the mind to heal the mind, mind to heal the body, body to heal the mind, body to heal the body, and Nejang helps us to realize this.

Nejang is a very simple, accessible practice for all ages.  Most of the exercises are done seated on a cushion or in a chair.  Modifications will be offered to anyone with physical limitations or disabilities.
